DISCLAIMER: DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL AND OPERATE POWER TOOLS. IT IS A REALLY BAD IDEA.
When the day is over and you’re out of the shop, it can be nice to relax with a finely crafted cocktail. Here’s how to make my favorite, the Old Fashioned.
The Old Fashioned is the original cocktail; in fact, before they called it the Old Fashioned, it was just called the Cocktail. You don’t need any special equipment to make it – it’s built in the glass. So here’s the recipe:
- 3-6 dashes Angostura Bitters (you can find these at the liquor store or most higher-end grocery stores)
- 1 tsp simple syrup (make this ahead of time by combining 1 cup boiling water with 1 cup white sugar)
- 2 oz Rye whiskey (I use Rittenhouse 100 proof, but you could use any other whiskey that isn’t Scotch. You could also use rum, brandy, cognac, et cetera)
- 1 orange peel
- 1 ice cube
Add the ingredients in the order listed. Stir or swirl to combine. Enjoy!
Work safe! (Seriously, don’t drink and use tools unless you’re looking for a way to teach your children how to be an idiot)
